Office Closed Between 15th and 20th of April

The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022 will come into force on 1st

October 2022.

From that date, all relevant landlords must:

– ensure that at least one smoke alarm is equipped on each storey of their homes where there is a room used as living accommodation. This has been a legal requirement in the private rented sector since 2015;

– ensure that a carbon monoxide alarm is equipped in any room used as living accommodation which contains a fixed combustion appliance (excluding gas cookers); and

– ensure that faulty smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are repaired or replaced. The requirements are enforced by local authorities, which can impose a fine of up to £5,000 where a landlord fails to comply with a remedial notice.

To all members,

When your smoke or heat detector starts to bleep, DO NOT DISARM it, change the batteries immediately.

As you can see from the above notice, there will a £5000.00 fine coming into place from the 1^{st of}October 2022.

Office will remain closed from 28th Feb to 10th March
