You MUST let us know of any changes to your personal circumstances either permanent or semi-permanent.

Sub-letting and lodgers

You may wish to rent out a room to someone as this can help bring in some extra money – this is prohibited and contrary to your tenancy agreement and will lead to the issue of a Notice to Quit (NTQ), resulting in eviction. ​ You may wish to sub-let a part of your property – this too is prohibited and contrary to your tenancy agreement and will lead to the issue of a Notice to Quit (NTQ), resulting in eviction. It is strictly forbidden to sublet the whole of your home. If you are going away for three months or more (e.g. to visit family abroad) and you would like someone to stay in your home while you are away, please discuss this with your housing officer. They will explain how you might be able to do this. You cannot transfer your tenancy to someone else unless we give you permission (e.g. to exchange your home with another resident) or unless a court orders it. ​ Remember: If you move out without telling us, sublet the whole of your property or transfer your tenancy illegally, you will have broken the conditions of tenancy. Immediate action will take place leading to the issue of a Notice to Quit (NTQ) and resulting in eviction. Succession: If a tenant dies it is not possible for their tenancy to pass to another person.

Contravention of the Housing Co-operative’s strict rules relating to Sub-letting or partial Sub-letting will lead to the issue of a Notice to Quit (NTQ) which will further result in eviction from the unit.

ANY SUCH CRIMINAL PROCEEDING WILL IMPACT YOUR LIFE SEVERELY AND WILL MAKE ANY ALLOCATION OF HOUSING TO YOU IN THE FUTURE IMPOSSIBLE AND/OR VERY DIFFICULT.
